How to Join

You are welcome to join the library. Your membership will allow you and any resident adult family member full use of the library services and facilities. You and they will be most welcome.

From April 1st 2017 our subscription will be £104 pa (£52.00 if you are a country member or young person - 18 to 25). The subscription year begins in April but anyone can join at any time, and if you join after April the subscription will be reduced proportionately. The subscription can also be paid quarterly by direct debit. We also offer an income based reduced subscription please contact the Library for further details.

Call into the library and collect a membership form or print it off and fill it in and send to the library. If you prefer, ring or email the Library and we will post you a copy. If you would like to have a look round first we offer  guided tours lasting around an hour every Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 pm at £2.00 pp. Booking is essential just phone, email or pop in to reserve a place.  We offer reference facilities on a short term basis to researchers. Advance notice is required plus a letter of introduction from a supervisor or tutor if you are a student; please contact us by phone or email for further details. There may be a fee if you need to make more than one visit.

Gift membership is available too. Unfortunately we cannot organise a membership as a 'surprise' (under any circumstances) as the membership form needs to be signed by the prospective member and their references taken up; please contact the library for more details. Gift membership packs are available for £5.00 deductible against the cost of the membership when taken out.

Benefits of joining the library include:

Access to our extensive older collections, built up over our 200 year history in Nottingham, as well as new books. Some 45,000 books with around 800 newly published fiction and non-fiction titles added each year.

Most books available for loan. We do not charge fines and loan periods for older material are generous. All books can be found on our electronically searchable catalogue Bromcat. As well as books, we have a collection of audio books and music CDs available for loan.

Daily newspapers and many periodicals are available in the library.

We pride ourselves on excellent levels of customer service.
